Discover the art of turning paper into light. In this workshop you'll explore the material experimentally, discovering its possibilities through texture, form and light, to design and make your own unique lamp.
01 / What we'll do
Participants get to know the material and then express themselves freely, creating a unique piece to take home.
- Introduction to different types of paper, their characteristics and uses
- Exploring techniques such as folding, crumpling and pleating

03 / Who teaches the class
Carolina Lizana Lamarca holds a degree in Fine Arts specialising in painting (Universidad Finis Terrae, Santiago de Chile) and is an expert in film make-up and special effects. After 15 years working internationally in Barcelona, New York, Los Angeles and London, she has turned to painting for natural history museums and to creating paper sculptures and light lamps.
Her practice explores the relationship between materiality, light and atmosphere, drawing on ancestral traditions — especially Japanese ones — in which paper and light come together to create feelings of warmth, contemplation and beauty.
What you'll take home: your own lamp or light sculpture, new tools for experimenting with materials and light, practical skills to keep creating at home, and an artistic, sensory experience with a versatile material.
